MONDAY 15TH NOVEMBER

Ah! The magic of the FA Cup, and here's hoping we don't get lumbered with Mark Warren officiating at our 2nd round tie this time around as we travel to Boundary Park to face a stuttering Oldham Athletic side who may be swapping places with us come next May.

Ironically enough, the last time we played Oldham in the cup, it also followed a first round win over Dagenham & Redbridge, albeit with a home victory over West Brom in round two sandwiched in between.

So now we've got another chance to prove that we can still get the same results against 3rd division teams as we've been getting against the usual lot week in week out. Oldham and Walsall in the LDV will be there for the taking and there are decent enough incentives in both games to guarantee some decent up tempo football gets played.

Though I'm sure everyone agrees by now that promotion is the main thing this season, it's been proven before that it's entirely possible to have a prolonged flirtation with the cups and still win the division you're in. Carlisle won this division whilst being edged out in extra time in the LDV Final at Wembley by Birmingham, who in turn won the 3rd division!

But before all that we have the visit of crisis club Wycombe on Saturday, in the wake of their entire managerial reigns currently up for grabs. It's been said that this could be the worst time to play them, but that usually only applies when the new manager has already taken over and everyone in the squad are fighting for places again. This isn't the case yet, so this could well turn out to work in our favour.

I know I'd certainly rather we played them now then at the start of the season when they were deservedly top of the division and playing well every game though.

Come on you O's...
