Dave McGhee's injury in the friendly match at Hampton on Saturday isn't as bad as was first feared. SATURDAY 4TH AUGUST 2001
HAMPTON 0-1 LEYTON ORIENT
The last friendly match before Orient's season kicks off away to Cheltenham next Saturday was a comfortable 1-0 success at Hampton. Lockwood provided the cross for Dean Smith to head home the only goal of the game with Orient having two goals disallowed during the match.
Dave McGhee was stretchered off injured though - more on this when I get it.
THURSDAY 2ND AUGUST 2001
DARTFORD 0-3 LEYTON ORIENT
Another 3-0 away friendly win against a lower league team was achieved on Thursday night in the penultimate game before the league seasons starts on the 11th. Jabo Ibehre, Dave McGhee and Matthew Lockwood got the goals as Orient carried on the good preseason form they have been showing.
Apart from Premiership or Division 1 teams, Orient haven't lost a game and have drawn only two and won eight in my reckoning, but this dosn't include specific u19 games. The days of 5 preseason friendlies are over it would seem!
WEDNESDAY 1ST AUGUST 2001
BILLERICAY 0-2 LEYTON ORIENT
Two headers, one from Chris Tate and one from Steve Castle earned Orient a halftime advantage which they held on for the rest of the match. In a dull game, Billericay also had a goal disallowed in the second half.
